Thread lifting is a well-known beauty trend that has been around for a long time, but most threads used are from Korea. The procedure is minimally invasive, provides immediate results, and causes minimal discomfort.

What is Thread lift?

“Thread Lift” is a technique that uses dissolvable threads naturally absorbed by the body to lift and tighten the skin of the face. The small threads are designed to anchor to the underlying facial structure at strategic points to lift and tighten the skin in the desired areas. The threads stimulate collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid production, resulting in long-lasting firmness and tightening of the skin after the procedure.

How many Thread lift types are there?

The thread lift procedure that we are familiar with is divided into 2 types as follows:

  1. Dissolvable Thread Lifts: These threads are made from PDO, PLLA, and PCL materials which can dissolve naturally over time. They are hypoallergenic, flexible, and have different levels of strength. Definisse Italian Thread Lifts also fall under this category.
  2. Non-Dissolvable Thread Lifts: These threads are made from materials such as plastic, gold, or metal. Plastic threads are suitable for stitching wounds while gold threads have been popular for a long time. However, there are various risks associated with non-dissolvable thread lifts, such as gold being sensitive to heat and causing skin reactions, as well as issues with CT scans.

How long do the threads are fully integrated?

In general, if the thread lift is performed by an experienced doctor and there are no complications with the patient, the threads can fully integrate into the skin within 4-6 weeks. However, for Definisse Italian Thread Lift, it can integrate within 3-4 weeks due to the less painful procedure, smaller incisions, and advanced medical techniques used.

What is Definisse Italian Threads Lift?

Definisse Italian Threads Lift is the use of a special type of thread from the premium brand Definisse, which is the only brand certified by the Thai FDA. The threads are imported directly from Italy, ensuring safety for the patient and high-quality results.

At Dermaster, the Italian thread lift procedure will use the Definisse Double Needle Threads model, which has a bidirectional and convergent barbed thread structure. This technique is primarily used for lifting the facial and neck areas.

Why Definisse Italian Threads Lift?

The Italian threads used by Dermaster are products of A. Menarini, a world-leading pharmaceutical company and the oldest company in Italy (Made in Italy). How many thread types are there in Definisse Double Needle Threads model?

Definisse Italian threads come in 2 sizes: 12 cm and 23 cm. Their usage is divided according to the area of thread treatment as follows:

  • The 12 cm thread size is suitable for facial thread lifting, such as brow lifting, temple lifting, lifting and tightening of the jawline, lifting the cheeks, and the nasolabial folds.
  • The 23 cm thread size is suitable for thread lifting in the neck and facial contours.

Definisse Double Needle Threads from Italy use double-sided sharp needles with a size of 21 G, and the number of threads required depends largely on the laxity of each individual’s skin. However, in general, only one thread per side is used to start with, or very few compared to other types of thread lifting procedures.

It is important to note that the use of Double Need Threads is subject to the assessment of our experienced medical professionals who have more than 20 years of experience in facial design and dealing with individual differences in facial structure.

Does Double Needle Threads Technique good?

Double Needle Threads Technique

The Double Needle Technique, also known as Double Thread Technique, is a non-surgical face lifting technique that uses threads to lift and tighten the skin. This technique is commonly used in PDO Thread Lift procedures, where two needles are used to insert the threads into the skin. One needle is used to insert the thread at the entry point, while the other needle is used to guide the thread to the exit point.

The use of double needles in the Double Needle Technique has many benefits. First, it helps to insert the threads into the skin more accurately, resulting in more beautiful and natural-looking results. Additionally, the use of double needles reduces the risk of threads breaking or slipping, which can cause inconsistent results.

The Definisse 12 cm double needle threads technique used in conjunction with the Jawline Reshaping (JR) technique allows us to reshape the structure of the chin line to our desired shape by lifting and tightening the lower face area without surgery.

This technique can be performed by a physician with basic or advanced level of experience, depending on the expertise of the treating physician.

Avoid using dietary supplements such as Vitamin C and E, and medications such as Paracetamol and blood thinners. Abstain from consuming alcohol for one day before the procedure.

If you need to undergo dental treatment, plan it with your dentist as after the thread lifting, you need to avoid opening your mouth for at least 3-4 weeks.

Avoid performing any facial treatments that use collagen restoration methods such as Ultraformer MPT, Ulthera, Thermage FLX, or Thermage CPT that require downtime and recovery.

Patients can consult with a doctor and plan for a facial lifting procedure on the same day at Dermaster before getting Italian thread lifting. However, it is up to the doctor’s discretion. (Click to see promotions)

How many days does swelling occur after Definisse (Italian Thread lift)?

Self-care after an Italian Thread Lift is very important to reduce the risk of complications and to achieve better results. Therefore, it is recommended to follow these guidelines:

  • After the Italian Thread Lift procedure, there may be swelling, redness, and pain in the beginning stage. Therefore, pain medication and cold compresses should be used to alleviate the symptoms.
  • Avoid alcohol consumption, as it may cause swelling and delay the healing process.
  • Avoid facial tightening, heat therapy on the face such as sauna, hot water face washing, and laser treatment for at least 3-4 weeks to allow the face to heal.
  • Around 7-14 days after the Italian Thread Lift, it is recommended to start light exercise and avoid strenuous activities to allow the face to heal.
  • If there are any abnormal symptoms or if you are unsure about the symptoms that are occurring, it is recommended to consult with a medical professional for evaluation and additional advice.

What are the differences between Italian Thread Lift and other types of thread lifting?

  • Italian threads have a double-headed arrow shape that runs towards each other, with excellent adhesion properties that allow the results to lift and tighten the face for up to 15 months.
  • The Italian thread is made from a material that has stronger tensile strength and greater flexibility than other types of threads used for facial lifting. It also has the natural property of self-dissolving, meaning it can completely dissolve on its own within a period of just 6-8 months.

What the difference between Definisse Italian Threads Lift and MINT Lift?

When we ask about thread lifting in the market, we often come across the term “MINT” which is not related to the mint scent we usually know. The abbreviation “MINT” stands for Minimal Invasive Non Surgical Thread, which means a non-surgical face-lifting procedure using thread lifting. MINT is the brand name of PDO thread material imported from Korea. It can also be naturally dissolved and has been approved by the Thai FDA just like Definisse, an Italian thread brand.

The difference depends on the usage of PDO threads, which have more delicate properties than Italian (Definisse) threads and are not as flexible. If the area to be treated has a lot of fat or is highly relaxed, PDO threads may not be suitable because they require relatively high pulling force.

While PDO thread lifts from Korea can provide great results, patients must be extremely cautious in their daily activities to avoid any negative outcomes. Expressing emotions through facial expressions such as laughing, yawning, or moving the face excessively can not only increase the risk of thread displacement immediately, but it can also lead to infection.

However, regardless of the type of thread lifting, it should be recommended by a specialized physician with experience in thread lifting and certified by the Medical Council for the safety of the patient themselves.

Failing to follow the aftercare instructions can result in a botched procedure and unsatisfactory results. It is important to be aware of the potential risks and take necessary precautions to ensure a safe and successful thread lift procedure.

  • Choosing a high-quality thread that is suitable for each individual’s specific problems and facial structure is crucial. It is important to seek a doctor with extensive experience in thread lifting to reduce the risk of poor quality, infection, and suboptimal results.
